Namely, in the art department.

I made this community, akfbxartists, for, well, artists of Fairbanks. I've seen some p. awesome work done in the painting and drawing studios, so I'm hoping those of you who are in that department, or even if you're not but like to make art, join and post stuff.

Students at the University of Alaska Fairbanks are protesting a series of speaking engagements by Edward Delgado a so called "ex-gay" evangelist. Brought in as a guest speaker by the Campus Bible Ministries Mr. Delgado will give 14 lectures titled “From Sin’s Bondage to Christ’s Freedom" on his claim that through reading the Bible he magically journeyed from being gay to becoming a heterosexual.

Learn more about this ridiculous and unscientific claim as well as info on protests.

KSUA DJ Meeting
KSUA will be holding a DJ meeting this Friday at 6pm, in Constitution Hall, on the steps leading up to the station. This is a mandatory meeting for all KSUA volunteers and is open to everyone else as well. This is a good opportunity to meet the station's staff and its volunteers. If you're interested in the station or what we're up to, we'd love to see you there. There will be pizza and refreshments after the meeting is finished.

Any questions or comments should be directed to the email address listed below.

    KSUA Job Openings

I just wanted to let everyone know that KSUA, UAF's student radio station, has two student positions open for hire.

One is for production director, and the other is for program director.

If you go to advanced job search, Choose "Student" as the employment type, and "Fairbanks" as the Job Location, you should see the positions.

Please feel free to email ksuagm[at]gmail.com if you have questions.

    UAF On-Campus Accommodation?
No doubt you've seen this question before (sorry), but does anyone have any recommendations or warnings on UAF on-campus accommodation? I need something fairly cheap, preferably with a room-mate, but in a good location for a newbie. I'm coming over for an exchange next year from Stirling Uni (Scotland), and I didn't want to ask before I got my acceptance, in case, well, I got my hopes up unnecessarily. Thanks for any advice you can give.

    Hello Fairbanks!
My name is Michelle, I'm 22-years-old, and I currently reside in Las Vegas, NV. I'm planning to transfer to an out-of-state school next year and I'm heavily considering applying at UAF for linguistics. Any linguists on here? What's the university like? What about the city iself?

    Thank you in advance. =D

    Hey everyone!

Just a quick question for you. I'm planning on (finally) transferring to college. I'm from the Los Angeles area, and quite frankly, I hate it. So I'm going out of state. Preferably as far away from anything that even remotely resembles LA.

I am a geology major, and will also be either doing a double major or a minor in anthropology. Eventually in geology I would like to concentrate on either glaciology or paleontology.

on to the question, cut because I rambleCollapse )

UAF is one of my top three schools. I'm having a hard time choosing between that, Portland State, and Northern Arizona University. So convince me (or deter me) from choosing UAF. Thanks guys!!

    Getting ready for a move.
Heya. I'm planning for a move from my current location in Utah over towards Fairbanks, and I've been looking for good places to find room/house/cabin for rent ads, and roommate wanted postings. I already know about the News Miner Classifieds, and I was wondering, is there was anything else to be had of that sort?

Also, while I'm readying my moving expenses, what's the average cost of electricity?

Finally, if there is any frequently overlooked thing about the process of moving that any of you would like to warm me about, I'm all ears.

Sorry for posting twice in one day...

Does anybody here know where I can buy a used/cheap bicycle? Nothing fancy -- just something to get me around town.

Or on that note, does anybody know of somebody who'd like to sell, rent, or loan a bicycle for the summer?
    12:10 am
    Silly question:

I'm here for the summer. What are some good ways to meet people/socialize?

    2:45 am

I'm coming to UAF in a few weeks to spend the summer as a research student. Is there anything in particular that I should know or bring beforehand apart from the usual essentials? (I'm from NJ/VA, and have never been to Alaska, so I really don't know what to expect...)

Also, I got my housing assignment a few days ago, and was informed that I'm living in a "Double Single" in Bartlett. Apart from being obvious contradiction, what exactly does that mean?

I'm currently trying to sell a Dell C521 desktop that I purchased at the beginning of the fall 2006 semester. It is in good condition, I have just found that I no longer have very much use for it so would like to have it taken off my hands.

    250 GB hard drive
    16x DVD+/-RW drive
